What does EXIF data reveal about me?
Photos from phones often embed GPS coordinates precise enough to locate your home, plus the exact date and time taken and your device make and model. Anyone who downloads the original file can read all of it, which is why stripping metadata before sharing matters.
Does removing EXIF data reduce image quality?
No. This tool removes metadata at the byte level: it copies the compressed image data unchanged and simply skips the metadata segments. Nothing is re-encoded, so every pixel stays identical and the file usually gets slightly smaller, never worse.
Do social networks strip EXIF automatically?
Most large platforms strip metadata from images they display, but not all of them remove it from downloadable originals, and email or cloud links keep it intact. Stripping EXIF yourself before uploading is the only habit that reliably protects your location and device details.
