Frequently asked questions
How can OCR work without uploading my scan?
The text-recognition engine runs inside your browser. Pages are rendered locally, recognized locally, and the searchable text layer is added locally - no copy of the document ever reaches a server, which matters for contracts and records.
Does OCR change how my PDF looks?
No. The recognized text is embedded as an invisible layer over the original scan, so the document looks identical - but you can now select, copy, and search the text, and screen readers can read it.
What languages and quality can I expect?
The tool currently recognizes English text and works best on clear, straight scans at normal document sizes. Handwriting, low-resolution photos, and heavily skewed scans reduce accuracy - that is true of every OCR engine.
