Frequently asked questions

Why does my phone video play sideways on other devices?

Phones record in one orientation and add a rotation flag to the file instead of rotating the pixels. Many players and websites ignore that flag, so the video shows sideways. This tool bakes the rotation into the pixels themselves, so it plays correctly everywhere.

Does rotating a video reduce its quality?

Rotating requires one light re-encode because the pixels are physically turned. The output uses H.264 at a quality level chosen to be visually identical to the source, so you will not notice a difference in normal viewing. File size stays in the same ballpark.

Does rotating change the length or audio of the video?

No. The duration stays exactly the same and every frame is kept - only the orientation changes. Audio is carried over into the rotated MP4 unchanged in timing, re-encoded to AAC so the file plays reliably in browsers, phones, and editing software.
