Convert MP4 to MOV
Free, private MP4 to MOV conversion - processed entirely in your browser, nothing is uploaded.
Some Apple-centric tools - older iMovie versions, certain Final Cut plugins, and legacy Mac automation - behave best with QuickTime MOV files. Since MOV and MP4 are close cousins structurally, converting between them is safe and fast. The output uses H.264 and AAC inside a MOV container, processed locally in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
Aren't MOV and MP4 basically the same thing?
They're related - MP4 was derived from Apple's QuickTime format - but the containers differ enough that picky software rejects one and accepts the other. The video codec inside can be identical; this conversion is mostly about the wrapper.
Will this work for editing in iMovie?
Yes. iMovie accepts H.264 MOV files directly. If your source MP4 used an exotic codec, the re-encode to H.264 during conversion also fixes that.
