The LinkedIn profile banner is an unusually wide 4:1 strip - 1584×396 pixels - and it's one of the most commonly botched image dimensions on any platform. Ordinary photos are far taller than 4:1, so without a deliberate crop LinkedIn will slice away most of the vertical content. Why does my LinkedIn banner look cut off on mobile?
Mobile crops the banner edges further, and your profile photo overlaps the lower-left area. Keep text and key content centered and away from the left third and the bottom of the crop.
Is 1584×396 required exactly?
LinkedIn recommends 1584×396 and scales larger 4:1 images down cleanly. Cropping at 4:1 is what matters - the pixel count just needs to be at least that size for sharpness.
